Having gone through the childhood trauma of being constantly troubled and attacked by an alleged evil spirit, one young woman from a west rural St Andrew community is now begging to be left alone.

If Camellia, now 21, had her way, she would simply live a normal life. However, that is not the case.

“I’ve had trouble in school and after I left school … while I was working the troubles continued and have now caused me to be home permanently,” she told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Camellia, her relatives and friends claim that for most of her life, she has been tormented by an evil spirit. Her most recent encounter is said to have occurred last Saturday while she brushing her teeth.

She said, “I was home brushing my teeth and out of nowhere came a black fish. The fish was alive and appeared to come from the ground because it had dirt on it … but my instincts tell mi it didn’t come from the earth.”

She said while observing the strange fish, it attempted to jump at her face but she shifted and it bumped into her belly section.

Camellia said she quickly alerted her family. A family member said she saw a live black fish and a younger relative took it up and put it in a small pan.

Preacher called

THE WEEKEND STARunderstands that Camellia is a Christian and therefore a relative called a church member to pray for her. Our news team learnt that consecrated olive oil was rubbed on her by the preacher who attempted to pray for her; however, not too long after she began to attack the woman.

“To our surprise, Camellia turn into ‘Hulk’. She start fighting the lady who was praying for her. I don’t know where she got that strength from, is like something entered her body and boost her up,” a family member said.

Camellia had to be left alone for a while as she sat in a corner by herself singing, “I am Not Afraid.” A family friend said kerosene was thrown on the fish by the church sister but when fire was applied, it did not engulf it until after several attempts.

They further claim that froth came from the fish’s mouth and it did not burn to ash but simply changed from black to white. A cousin of Camellia said over the years, she has not been able to settle in any job. She said, “She was working at a supermarket and after she got a promotion there, the spirit threw her down and she hurt her neck and had to withdraw from the job. She went to work at a bakery and she drop down again and hurt herself and had to sport a neck brace for some time.”

The family has tried to seek help for Camellia but all attempts have failed. A relative recalled the latest attempt saying: “Last year, we try to take her to a Poco preacher; while we were on our way, the vehicle we were travelling in crashed.”

Bishop Joseph Ade-Gold of the Chambers of God International Church told THE WEEKEND STAR that this case was not unusual. “It’s very complicated and can be explained in more than one way. In this case, the fish doesn’t mean a fish from the sea but an impersonating spirit; they take the figure of anything man or animal and appear to people,” the bishop revealed. “This means she is highly possessed. Many of them will know but won’t confess. Most times the objective is against the parents or the grandparents, trying to break up a marriage or a  relationship.”
