A 50-year-old man was killed after a 16-foot long metal gate got dislodged from its track and landed on top of him.
He has been identified as Joseph Bennett.

The incident happened at the Joong Supermarket and Wholesale in Portmore, St Catherine yesterday.
Bennett’s grieving relatives gathered at the site of his unfortunate death this morning and threatened to take legal action against management of the establishment.
The relatives report that at about 6:00pm Bennett was walking past the steel gate when it fell.
He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Russell Bennett, the brother of the victim, said he believed negligence was the cause of his sibling’s demise.
“We believe negligence caused the death of my brother it is not right for a store like that to have a defective gate in a public space now it has cost the death of my brother,” said Russell Bennett, brother of the victim.
The management of the store said the incident is being investigated.
