THE family of an 18-year-old London girl caught smuggling 30lbs of cocaine from Jamaica to Miami says she is just a victim.
The teen, who has a two-year-old son, had flown from Jamaica to Miami International airport last week, where the drug was found inside 24 boxes of cake mix in her luggage.
She turned 18 in jail.
Her mother, Sonia Kitson said, “She is teenager who fell into a trap. Her friend bought her a ticket to Jamaica. She was threatened over there and she didn’t know what to do”, according to the London Evening Standard.
Drug trafficking is punishable in Florida by sentences ranging from a mandatory minimum 15 years to life, the paper said.
The Evening Standard said the girl, who got pregnant at 15, was previously filmed for a television programme calling for better sex education in schools.
